ORDx+Rx’s Charlotte Guglielmi, MA, BSN, RN, CNOR and the Clinical Manager of Perioperative Education at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, was awarded the 2019 AORN Individual Award for Excellence in Perioperative Nursing. The award noted that “Charlotte Guglielmi is a champion for patient safety, particularly focused on high-performance teamwork. Her career has been diverse, practicing as a clinician, manager, educator, and administrator. She oversees her division’s practice, safety and quality initiatives, policy and procedure development, and curriculum design, including the BIDMC Perioperative Nurse Entry Program. Guglielmi is a nationally recognized speaker and consultant on perioperative safety, having presented to over 125 international, national, and local groups. She loves her chapter and leads by example to ensure its future viability. Guglielmi proudly recalls the moment when she received AORN’s 2001 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Perioperative Clinical Practice. It is a reminder that simple moments of safely caring for patients define perioperative excellence.
